Prayer Wall

Let us then with confidence draw near to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need. – Hebrews 4:16

I need prayers for my family: my husband Mike who needs healing and getting disability approval; my mother and sister for health; myself for spiritual health (I am the only one in the family who is working and who believes in Jesus Christ).

Please pray for my family as a whole, as well as my career. Being an independent author isn't easy, especially when you don't have tons of money to spend on marketing and supplies. I feel like this is the path I'm made for, poetry is a passion of mine and something I wasn't supposed to be able to do according to doctors. Pray that I won't get bogged down by other writers' success...that I'll be more patient. Also pray for some health issues and that I can find a job outside the home. There are just so many things going on, but God's got this.

My daughter Gretchen is feeling led to serve God in missions and I believe with all my heart that it is God’s call for her. She is working with mission organizations on choosing the right major, as well as great men and women of faith on the best colleges. I ask that you pray she stays strong, encouraged, and focused on God’s plans.

This past week a good friend and I had lunch together. We both home schooled our children and that is how we met. Her children and mine are good friends. She sent both of her children to the local Catholic high school. Her daughter graduated last year and is in her first year of college. Her son is struggling to find friends and people who are "like" him in their interests. We discussed how hard it is to find good friends, as my son is 4 years older and though they are friends, they do not have the same schedules and are not in school together. Oh how I wish that they had been. We had lunch on Tuesday, and on Thursday she texted me that her son had taken his life the night before (which happens to be my daughter’s birthday--my daughter is pregnant and due around the time of her son’s birthday…they used to send the same birthday card back and forth to each other on their birthdays as a joke.) We are shocked and so saddened by this tragedy. She found him Thursday morning, that is the only detail I know as of now. We have spoken briefly as she has been making arrangements, getting her daughter here from college, and family from out of town. The funeral is on Tuesday, and she is making those final arrangements as I type. Please pray for her family and for ours as we grieve the loss of her son, and as we want to walk through this with them with Christ's love and grace. I cannot imagine her heartbreak. As a mother, my son has been wayward, and just returned home, but he is still alive. Her son is not. Oh how that is tearing my heart in two. There are no words. How we need Jesus, He is our only comfort in these times. Thank you for your prayers.

My friend died today. His name was Earl. He was always full of laughter and smiles. He loved big and lived well. He was married to the love of his life for 42 years (together for 44). His wife is one of my great friends. She married him when she was 16 years old, and they have had a love that was meant to be.

Please pray for my friend and her three children and their grandchildren. Her name is Allison.

I know she is going to be lost without him.

Sarah Koontz, President of Living by Design Ministries

It's a new week, and a fresh start! I'm trying to start this week on my knees, praying for all of you and laying my own burdens down at the foot of the cross. Our team has been very busy and the Wisdom Whispers launch is in full swing. There are still so many little things we need to do to get this free online Bible study ready to release by April 2.

Many of our team members have been dealing with spiritual attack, which is no surprise to us. The enemy will do everything in his power to keep women from opening their Bibles and drawing near to God. The gloves have come off and we are fighting back, but we desperately need your prayer support.

We have several team members who are struggling with various health concerns. Please pray for health and physical restoration, as well as healing and provision for these beautiful women. There are also other burdens within our team, heavy ones, consuming ones. Ask God to give us the courage to lay all our burdens down at His feet and trust Him to carry them on our behalf.

As for me personally, I'm asking for focus and direction in my ministry life. It is difficult to juggle so many tasks and manage so many people, but beyond that, it's important that I do not allow the stress of ministry to overflow into my family life. I homeschool my girls, so they are always with me. How I manage my ministry work, and the boundaries I set to protect our family life, are so important. And I often feel like I am floundering around in a rapid current, swimming with all my might but wondering if I am getting anywhere.

Your prayers are appreciated!

Pray for my teenage daughter who is homesick for all the things she knew; she feels lost in the new country we have moved to. I pray she will begin to see that God has a purpose where He has put her and that she will recognize the special daily blessings from Him.

My sweet, loving daughter has entered teen years and has fallen into a depression. She has started counseling, but has been believing lies from Satan for so long that it has led to self harm. It breaks my heart and I feel like a failure. I want her to see her worth through God’s eyes. I want her to know the unconditional love God has for her, even in her struggles. Please pray for her mind to be still and know that He is God and for her to find worth, strength and love in Him.

In his book titled Prayer, John Bunyan defines prayer as “A sincere, sensible, affectionate pouring out of the heart or soul to God, through Christ, in the strength and assistance of the Holy Spirit, for such things as God has promised, or according to his word, for the good of the church, with submission in faith to the will of God.” God promises to hear us when we pray (1 Jn. 5:15), and even when we can’t find the right words, Jesus Christ intercedes on our behalf (Rom. 8:34). Our prayers don’t have to be eloquent or elaborate, they just need to be faithful and heartfelt.
